Hi, my name is Ashley Walterscheid and I started Uncorked Art in 2015 after becoming a mom to my first daughter. I love to be creative and teach others. Before starting the studio I was a florist for 10 years working at my mother in laws flower shop The Garden Mart.

 

After having my daughter I was looking for a creative outlet that worked with being a mom. I started offering classes for free, having customers just pay for their canvas. This took off and was a huge hit in our community.

 

My husband and I bought a building downtown in 2018 and started adding more creative avenues to offer to customers when we had the space. We offered pottery painting, birthday parties, wood classes, clay club and so much more.

 

Unfortunately we had to close our doors during COVID after being closed for over a year due to social and business restrictions. I don’t think I realized until recently I have been able to process loosing such a passion of mine during all together a very difficult time.

 

Here we are three years later and both of my daughters started school and I have had a lot of time to reflect and process what is next for me. I have thought of many different careers that possibly I could get started on but my heart always pulls me back to creative outlets. After growing enough courage to return to my Uncorked Art Facebook page and looking thru all the amazing memories and customers that I had I felt compelled to returning to this creative outlet again. Although it won’t be the same as having a studio that doesn’t mean that’s not and option in the future. It wasn’t until this month that I ever even imagined going back to such a bittersweet chapter in my life. I still have my whole studio packed away in a dry van trailer and I think I never faced cleaning it out or selling all my machines because in my heart I knew this may happen!

 

God is good and He has used me to do good work in my time of quiet and stillness but I feel a tug to come back and be with people creating again! ❤️
